About

Sculptura Fitness is owned and operated by me, over there with my arms crossed, Essa. Sculptura was an active studio in Halifax NS, between 2010 and 2016. When I moved to Ontario to start a graduate program at the University of Toronto, my clients begged me to continue teaching classes online… so we held online classes via group video call whenever my schedule allowed.

Now I’m done my degree, and ready to launch a regular class schedule again. It turns out that due to social distancing, online is the perfect place to be.

Sculptura classes may make you swear, will hopefully make you laugh, and will definitely make you sweat. Our classes are small, super friendly, and feel like you’re hanging out with friends; all while putting your body through the paces!

How it works online

We’ve been online since 2016. We hold our classes via a group internet call. We all see each other, talk, and I give individual feedback on form during the class. It’s like we’re all in a room together, except you don’t have to put on shoes or find a parking spot!

Class Types

Coreblast

This mat-based class is all about challenging that core! Pilates exercises and cardio core exercises both show up, so you get to work deep postural muscles as well as getting that heart pumping. With a different combination of exercises each time, this 40 minute class flies by.

HIIT Bootcamp

HIIT = High Intensity Interval Training. Intervals are a fantastic way to maximize your workout time, and experience a more intense cardiovascular and fat-burning effect. The class runs under an hour, including a relaxing flexibility cool-down, and is not recommended for beginners or anyone trying to avoid high impact.

Pilates Bootcamp

This class combines strength training, cardiovascular training and Pilates to give you a focused workout with postural awareness, core strength and stability, and intense strength and cardio interval training. The goal is to keep challenging your body in a new way every time, so you are always increasing muscle tone, strength and flexibility. If you have weights or enjoy handling a sack of potatoes, this class often has advanced options for increased resistance (not required).

Pilates Flow

A 40 minute mat-based class based on the Pilates principles of deep muscle strength, flexibility, and postural awareness. Each movement flows into the next for a seamless workout.

Personal training

I specialize in group training, but I do occasionally take personal training clients. If you want to train online one-on-one, contact me with details about your situation.

About Essa

Sculptura Fitness was founded by Essa Horvath in Halifax, NS in 2010. 

Essa has a university degree in kinesiology (exercise science), and experience working in the fitness field for over a decade; teaching bootcamp-style classes, leading activities for neurological and cardiac patients, and providing personal training. She especially loves women’s classes and the supportive atmosphere and inspiration they provide – all while kicking butt!

Sculpettes (Sculptura clients) know her as being exceptionally kind and genuine, while having a uniquely friendly and witty way of making you work harder than you ever thought you could.

She holds a BSc Kinesiology (Exercise Science) and a BMus from Dalhousie University, and MMus from University of Toronto.
